The Sybaris is a weapon of Tenno origin, and thus not only has the potential to be primed but has in fact already been primed. In addition, DE released a further upgrade version of this weapon as part of their Warframe Anniversary celebrations – thus, with the Dex Sybaris, there are 3 weapons in this family of Rifles.
The Sybaris are burst-fire lever-action Rifles, meaning each press of the trigger will result in a burst of bullets – in this case, two bullets are fired in each burst. Each bullet effectively shares Damage types equally, so this is not a weapon that lends itself best to any of the IPS Damage types, but this does mean that it is equally effective against all enemy types.
How to Acquire
The Sybaris itself is a Clantech weapon, and so can be purchased from your Clan’s Dojo, provided the research has been performed. While gathering the resources to build this weapon isn’t a chore, note that it does require a pre-built Forma as part of its resource requirements, which is a pain in the butt. Note it also has a Mastery 5 requirement.
Blueprint resource requirements:
- Credits 20,000
- Morphics 2
- Salvage 800
- Rubedo 200
- Forma 1
Dex Sybaris can only be acquired during the Warframe Anniversary celebrations – held in March every year on every platform. It’s awarded via Alerts, and I recommend keeping an eye out for it when the time comes, but it does have a Mastery 7 requirement.
Sybaris Prime is, of course, accessible via Relics, but has a Mastery 12 requirement. It is expected to be vaulted in Q2 2019.
Stats by Variant
Sybaris Prime is, as expected, the standout here, with better stats across the board, making it viable for multiple builds. Dex Sybaris, however, is the only of the three variants that DOES have an IPS preference, with a leaning towards Slash Damage. This makes the Dex Sybaris a slightly better option than the base Sybaris, but truth be told, all weapons in this family are excellent weapons.
Crit or Status?
It really depends on the weapon in this case – both the Sybaris and Dex Sybaris are best built towards Critical Chance, with the Dex Sybaris having lower overall Damage, but a much higher Critical Chance. Given its low overall Status Chance, it’s not really worth building either of these weapons for any kind of Status Effect, although Dex Sybaris is likely a better option against Flesh (particularly Infested).
On the other hand, the Sybaris Prime is a beast, able to be modded for either Critical Chance or Status Chance, or – if preferred, a hybrid of both!
Depending on your preferred playstyle, the Sybaris is a recommended weapon once you hit MR5. It can carry you into later Mastery Ranks, but perhaps not into endgame activities. The Dex Sybaris fits neatly into the same box – you can likely make a better build for it based on its base Critical Chance, but it’s not necessarily the best option for much higher levels.
Sybaris Prime, on the other hand, comes highly recommended. It can easily see you into endgame activities and is an absolute monster of a weapon. Of course, being a burst fire Rifle, it does require a certain kind of playstyle that won’t necessarily appeal to every player, but even if it’s not your preferred weapon type, I recommend getting you hands on it if you can.
