Weapon 101 – Hind

hind tips warframe

The Hind is a Grineer Rifle that comes with multiple firing modes – it can be used as a burst-fire Rifle, or as a single shot semi-auto Rifle. While the burst-fire mode fires the most shots in a single burst compared to all other burst-fire weapons in the game, the Damage output is so low that it is not considered a high-tier weapon.

How to Acquire

The Hind blueprint can easily be acquired from the Market for 40,000 credits, and thankfully has no Mastery Rank requirement. Even the resources required are quite easily come by – except for the Neurodes, which can be troublesome in the early game.

While the IPS Damage leans strongly towards Slash, which is a good thing, the overall Damage output of 30 per bullet isn’t going to impress anyone greatly. It certainly puts away lower-level enemies with ease, but it won’t be long before the Damage starts to fall off. The semi-auto mode does deal double the Damage, which is great, but there are better weapons out there that can outperform the Hind in a heartbeat. Still, it has a large magazine and a huge ammo capacity, so if you can work a good build for it, you might find it useful.

Crit or Status?

While the burst mode favours Status Chance and the semi-auto favours Critical Chance, neither is high enough to really sing their praises – both top out at 15%. This is good enough to build towards, but not quite good enough to make a solid build out of without a kick-ass Riven. Thankfully, the Hind does come with a very high Riven Disposition, so it’s not so hard to find something amazing.

It’s not a great weapon overall, and it looks like a loaf of bread. Things don’t fare well for the Hind. That said, I have seen people come across amazing Riven mods for the Hind that make it not only workable but even somewhat useable at high level. Far from the worst weapon in the game, but even further from the best, it will take some hard work to get the Hind into a happy place, but perhaps some of you may see that as a viable challenge?
