On top of all the very cool stuff the Digital Extremes showed off today (and no, we aren’t finished yet), they capped off the show with something unexpected.
Well… it was both expected and unexpected.
The Duviri Paradox, as we later discovered it to be called, is the next open-world environment in development for Warframe, and it is mind-bogglingly surreal. Taking cues from various disparate places, including westerns and possbly even Pablo Picasso, it’s extremely difficult to put into words.
Suffice it to say that there are horses, kind of; adult operators, kind of; a dragon, kind of; all within a bleak desolate environment. Oh, and gaps in reality that seem to be represented by colour in an otherwise black-and-white landscape. I’m intrigued AND confused. I love it.
There’s little else that can be said – apart from the fact that this kind of aesthetic is right up my alley – I absolutely love the bizarre and surreal, and I just can’t wait to sink my teeth into something that looks to take players far left of centre.
It’s almost certainly a 2020 release (probably mid-to-late2020, if I were a betting man), but sink your teeth into the trailer below while you wait.
