Digital Extremes has always had a fairly strong relationship with Twitch, and was one of the first developers to trial the Twitch Drops system, which allowers developers to reward players who watch certain streams by delivering in-game rewards. This led to teething issues initially (including the time when viewers of a certain Devstream each received up to 30 Exilus Adapters, which cost 20 Platinum within game otherwise).
DE has refined this, and tends to give away rewards using this system for every Devstream and Prime Time that they stream. In addition, they will occasionally offer drops via official Warframe Partner streams – if you are looking for a list, here’s one!
However, it is important to note that this is different to the Twitch Prime rewards – this requires players to not only link their Twitch and Warframe accounts, but also to enable Twitch Prime on the associated Twitch account.
Ignore this for now – read on to find out how to link your Warframe and Twitch accounts!
Log in using the specific account you wish to link to – i.e., if you want to receive the rewards on PS4, log in with your PS4 account (logging in to a console account will open a new window to the appropriate platform login screen – log in).
After logging in, you’ll be returned to the home page – note your account name should be reflected at the top right of the screen.
Hover over your account name and a drop-down box will appear. Click on “Account Management”.
On your Account Management page, scroll all the way to the bottom.
Here you will find the place to link both your Twitch and Mixer accounts. Clicking the “Click here to link” button will open a new window – log in to your Twitch account.
Note: I’m not sure there is a similar system on Mixer, but it can’t hurt to link your account).
(Not really a step, but still.) If you’ve done this correctly, you should see this page! Success!
Whenever DE mentions that there will be Twitch drops, keep an eye on the requirements – generally you will need to watch for at least 30 minutes, and I believe new Twitch rules requires that the video not be muted/minimised or you won’t be counted as a viewer, but I’m not 100% certain – best to be safe, however.
Note the following:
- Twitch Drops: occur by watching a specific page for a specified amount of time (generally 30 consecutive minutes) – if successful, the item will be delivered to your in-game inbox
- Twitch Partner Drops: occur by watching an official Warframe Partner’s Twitch stream during a specified time period for a specified amount of time, with the reward being delivered to the in-game inbox
- Twitch Monster Drops: occur by watching anyone (but sometimes only official Warframe Partners) streaming Warframe. If a Twitch monster appears in game and is kiled by the streamer, all watchers will receive a drop, delivered to their inbox
